This is the gruesome moment a ravenous snake devoured an entire frog alive while hanging from a resident's ceiling in Thailand.

Footage shows the black-and-green snake coiled around a brown frog as it dangled over the home's entrance in Trat province on May 29.

The serpent swallowed the helpless amphibian head-first, with the frog flailing its legs in a futile attempt to escape.

Homeowner Siwapong Boonloy called snake catchers, who identified the reptile as a non-venomous golden tree snake around three feet long.

Its belly still bulging from its lunch, the creature fled from the officers by slithering towards the roof.

However, it was too sluggish and was captured with ease before being sealed inside a clear plastic bottle.

Rescue worker Thanaphat Soisri said: 'Golden tree snakes are not venomous, and they naturally prey on frogs. They resemble green pit vipers, which carry deadly venom. The difference is that the green vipers have a brown tail.'

The captured golden tree snake was later freed into its natural habitat.
