Over 2000 stranded tourists were rescued after floods washed away a road in northeastern India's Sikkim.

The road was located in north Sikkim near Chungthan town of Mangan district and the rescue took place on June 17.

Visuals showed the tourists making their way through a temporary crossing provided by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) Project Swastik. The tourists crossed what seemed to be a rushing stream while walking on a set of logs used to prepare a makeshift bridge. According to a report, heavy rainfall amounting to flood, washed away the road and the BRO Project Swastik worked tirelessly in the difficult weather to prepare a way to rescue the tourists.
