Hundreds of residents from twelve hamlets in the Tlogoadi Village, Kapanewon Mlati, Sleman, Yogyakarta, fought over the mountains after being paraded around the hamlet and prayed for by the residents, Sunday afternoon (25/7/2023). Three Gunungans filled with vegetables and fruits were sold out in just a matter of minutes.

Before being fought over by the residents, the Gunungan and various creations by the residents were carted off, followed by the Brigada traveling around hamlet to hamlet for three kilometers. Residents believe that if they get agricultural produce from Gunungan, they will get blessings.

"Hopefully Tlogoadi will be even better in the future and won't leave the culture in Java." said Nurul Alifah, a resident of Tlogoadi to beritasatu.com (23/7/2023).

The village anniversary event, which was packaged with Merti Dusun, had attracted the attention of thousands of residents along the way, even foreign tourists witnessed and documented the cultural procession.

"It's so amazing to see such a different and beautiful culture, I'm proud to be here and to have such a unique experience in this country." said Vince, a tourist from Sweden to beritasatu.com.

The commemoration of the 77th anniversary of Tlogoadi Village involved thousands of residents from twelve hamlets, each of which presented various kinds of cultural potential and traditional dances. In addition to dance, residents also presented ogoh-ogoh and the figure of the Diponegoro War Commander riding a horse.

"Our goal is to commemorate the 77th anniversary of Tlogoadi, we will explore the potentials in Tlogoadi, including the cultural potential of each hamlet." said Tlogoadi Village Head, Sutarja to beritasatu.com.

After arriving at Kapanewon Tlogoadi's yard, each hamlet showed its cultural creations as a form of appreciation for the village where the residents live. The event ended by fighting over three Gunungan.

Before being fought over, the three Gunungan were prayed for so that the villagers would be blessed and kept away from danger. Apart from preserving culture and harmony between residents, the event which is held every year is also a tribute to the ancestors.
