Satellite debris crashes in Chinese village
A satellite plummeted to earth, landing behind a villager's house in northern China.
The video was filmed in the city of Shangluo in Shannxi Province on August 9.
A resident of Taizi Temple village reported that the debris fell at around 6:50 in the morning, accompanied by a large amount of smoke, which has since dissipated. The remnants are still at the site.
At the time of the fall, there was a massive noise, with windows even shaking, but the village had been forewarned that debris might fall, and there were no casualties.
An official in Taizi Temple village stated that the satellite remnants did not cause any damage in the village, and the debris is likely to be recovered and processed by the launch base.
The site has been secured, and specialized personnel are dealing with the situation.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
