Manhole covers explosion in China narrowly miss passersby in China
Manhole covers explosion in eastern China narrowly missed passing scooter riders.
CCTV footage filmed in Dezhou City in Shandong Province on August 6 shows two manhole covers suddenly blasting open, with accompanying flames and an enormous sound. Passersby narrowly escaped what could have been a disastrous incident.
Immediately after the event, relevant departments carried out inspections and repairs. Local urban management bureau workers stated that the explosion occurred because of a short circuit in the power supply company's high-voltage lines, leading to the sudden ignition.
Thankfully, there were no casualties. The power supply company has been instructed to carry out a thorough investigation.
To ensure public safety, Dezhou has taken measures to cut off the related power supply and conduct emergency repairs and inspections. The municipal government has also ordered relevant departments to conduct a comprehensive investigation of similar safety hazards, reinforcing maintenance and monitoring facilities to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
