Heroic residents rescued motorists trapped on a flooded street due to Typhoon Haikui in southern China.

Video filmed in the city of Fuqing in Fujian Province on September 5, shows two people getting trapped on the bonnet of a car that was stranded on a flooded road.

Quick-thinking and brave residents immediately spring into action, using ropes to stage a rescue of the trapped people.

Fuqing issues a red warning signal (the highest level) for the rainstorm, reporting a staggering 250mm of rainfall in just six hours at multiple monitoring stations.

Fuqing's Emergency Bureau states multiple departments are on-site assisting with flood relief efforts. Thankfully, no casualties have been reported, though property damage assessments are still ongoing.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
