A kind local chased a frightened scared stray cat to help remove a crisp packet that was stuck on its head.

The man slowly approached the ginger tabby to pull the trash off its head, but it sensed the Good Samaritan and ran away in Chiang Mai province, northern Thailand, on September 7.

Video taken by the man's friend shows the frantic cat with plastic concealing its vision, dashing and hitting walls and parked cars as it tries to escape.

It jumped over the fence to hide in clumps of bamboo before the local finally plucked the packet from its head.

Thailand, a largely Buddhist nation, believes that kindness towards animals should be encouraged, with temples sometimes being a safe refuge for stray cats, dogs, and even monkeys that don't have homes.
