A Thai farmer keeps mutant frogs with extra legs as his personal 'lucky charms'.

Yuranun Krudkhonburi, 33, has been caring for the unusual amphibians for more than a year at his home in Nakhon Ratchasima province.

One of the pair has six legs, while the other has eight. Despite their condition, both are in good health and are kept in separate terrariums.

Yuranun said he has been raising frogs for meat for more than six years, and has previously seen other mutated frogs with extra limbs at his farm.

However, he said these two were more special as they had the most legs and has 'brought good luck' to him and his neighbours.

The superstitious local claimed to have won several lotteries, and has attributed the stroke of good fortune to his 'lucky' pets.

He said: 'Even though these two frogs look strange, I think it's probably from a genetic or natural abnormality. I want to raise them until the end of their lifespan. They are not a burden to me at all, and instead, they have regularly brought me good luck.'

The frogs' extra legs are believed to have been caused by a genetic mutation. They can live a healthy life with the extra limbs but in the wild, they would be vulnerable to predators as moving around quickly is more difficult.
