A farmer in central India teamed up with his family to make a vintage electric car out of loose scrap.

Rohidas Navghane, who comes from the village of Jambhulwadi in Pune, Maharashtra, developed his dream car in just a month and a half with the assistance of his brother, children and a friend.

He came up with the idea after encountering an e-rickshaw on a visit to Delhi, and despite having limited resources, set out to make his own custom vintage car.

This unique vehicle is powered by a battery, with five batteries integrated, allowing it to comfortably cover a distance of 100 kilometres on a single charge.

The farmer, with the assistance of his brother, children and a friend, embarked on the journey of developing his dream car, completing it in just a month and a half. The entire project cost him only Rs 1.5 lakh.

Navghane, a farmer residing in Jambhulwadi, a village located in the Navghane taluka of Vadgaon Maval in Pune, depends on agriculture as his primary source of income. During a trip to Delhi, he came across an e-rickshaw, which sparked an idea. Upon returning home, despite his limited resources, he decided to pursue his dream of creating a vintage car.
He began by scavenging various materials from a junk shop. With only a 10th-grade education and no engineering background, Rohidas Navghane, with the assistance of his brother, children and a friend, embarked on the journey of developing his dream car, completing it in just a month and a half. Remarkably, the entire project cost him only Rs 1.5 lakh.

When people see Rohidas Navghane’s improvised red car on the road, they often request to take photographs with it. This unique vehicle is powered by a battery, with five batteries integrated, allowing it to comfortably cover a distance of 100 kilometres on a single charge. Charging the car is a quick process, taking only 5 to 6 hours. In this remarkable achievement, he has effectively brought to life the vision of “Make in India".
Currently, this car has become a topic of discussion throughout the Pune district, particularly in his taluka. While on the road, the farmer embarked on a journey, visiting Saint Tukoba and even driving his car across Karla Gad in Lonavala.
