Residents assembled to object to Kent County Council plans to house 50 asylum seeking children in the Ocean Heights care home in Minster on Sea, UK this afternoon (March 30).

Sheppey & Sittingbourne MP Gordon Henderson said "I will fiercely oppose this decision” in a statement published to his Facebook group.

Ocean Heights care home is situated next to the Little Oyster care home which faces the seafront.

Residents are angry because Minster on Sea beach is one of the Isle of Sheppey's most popular beaches and tourist destinations and have formed a Facebook action group, which organised the peaceful assembly on the seafront outside neighbouring Little Oyster care home at lunchtime to show opposition to the plans.

Footage shows the assembled crowd and general views of the seafront at Minster on Sea.
