Stranded Alpine skier winched to safety by helicopter in Italy
This is the dramatic moment a stranded alpine skier was winched to safety by a helicopter in Italy.
Footage shows firefighters being lowered onto the north face of Monte Gelas in Cuneo to rescue the skier trapped at an altitude of 3,000 metres on May 19.
Rescuers found the individual uninjured on the icy slopes and hoisted him up onto the aircraft.
The man was transported to the town of Entracque and was reported to be in good health.
