This is the moment a group of students rescue a young woman after she falls into an open manhole on a pavement in China.

CCTV footage shows the resident walking along the pavement and more preoccupied with her belongings than with looking where she is going, in Chongqing, in south-western China, on June 25.

She fails to see that the manhole in front of her does not have a cover. She the disappears in the blink of an eye after stepping on it and falling into it.

After a few moments pass, other students arrive on the scene and work together to pull her from the sewer by her arms.

They then carefully place the manhole cover on top of the drain to avoid similar accidents happening to other people.
