Rescue officer does CPR to injured monkey hit by car
A wildlife officer performed CPR to save a monkey that was hit by a car.
Saraporn Kettrakon, 48, was eating at a noodle shop for her lunch break when she saw the primate lying on the ground unconscious after it was struck by a passing vehicle in Ratchaburi province, Thailand.
Footage shows the volunteer Saraporn Kettrakon, 48, administering chest compressions on the animal at the back of a pickup truck on June 28.
They were taking the animal to the vets while the rescuer was trying to revive it so it would make it to the medics.
Another rescue volunteer Chayawit Rangsimant said: ‘Its condition was severe with weak breathing and without pulse. We had to do CPR while we were on the way to the hospital.
‘Monkeys have a similar body mechanism to humans. I had chest compressions for the first time several years ago to a toad.'
Saraporn said: ‘The monkey would try to bite me if it was unconscious so I called an ambulance for help.'
The monkey arrived at the hospital but it eventually died from its wounds. Meanwhile
Saraporn said: ‘I hope people would treat humans and animals the same, even though animals cannot speak.'
