Stranded cows rescued amid heavy flood in eastern Thailand
Stranded cows were rescued amid heavy floods in eastern Thailand.
Aerial footage shows rescue teams guiding the bovines across waterlogged fields in Prachinburi province on September 5.
Officers said the flood reached up to 32 inches. The rescue mission took two hours as dense grass and muddy paths made trekking through the area difficult.
The cattle owner, Sirichai Charoensil, 45, said he had left the farm animals out to graze when he was startled by 'a loud bang'.
He said: 'I rushed to where I had left my cows because I thought they might have been spooked by the noise. When I reached their pen, they had already been swept away by the current.'
The farmer added that he hurriedly called the village head and animal rescuers, fearing he might lose the livestock he had been raising for five years.
The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) forecasted widespread thunderstorms and isolated heavy rains across eastern Thailand, including Prachinburi province.
Residents in the north and northeast regions were also warned to brace for heavy downpours as super typhoon Yagi churned over the South China Sea.
Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
