Police launch probe following death of elderly woman found 'trapped under vehicle'

Police are investigating following the death of an elderly woman who was discovered 'trapped under a vehicle' at a house.

Emergency services were called to a property on Bowling Green Avenue, in Wilnecote, Tamworth, Staffs., shortly before 11am today (Tue).

Police, ambulance and fire crews rushed to the address and discovered the pensioner trapped beneath a vehicle but despite their efforts she died at the scene.

Staffordshire Police said a cordon had been erected while officers now worked to uncover how the tragic OAP died.

A police spokesperson said: "We have put a cordon in place following the death of a woman in Tamworth today (Tuesday 17 September)."

"We were called by colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service to a property on Bowling Green Avenue, "

"Officers went to the scene alongside colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and found an elderly woman trapped under a vehicle."

"Sadly, despite the best efforts of emergency services, the woman died at the scene."

"Officers set up a cordon around the address and have been speaking to nearby residents to find out more about what happened. Enquiries are ongoing."
