The Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki volcano erupted, spewing ash and lava into the night sky in Indonesia.

Footage shows the volcano ejecting the bright orange molten rocks on Tuesday evening, November 12.

Locals reported that the mountain continued to rumble with strong booms lasting around 30 minutes.

Residents in refugee camps began to panic, with some coming out to watch the eruption.

Police officers maintained a presence at the entrance of the Konga refugee camp, and motorists trying to pass toward Maumere were diverted to alternate routes.

Bobyson Lamanepa, an officer at the Mount Lewotobi Male Observation Post, reported that the mountain experienced another eruption starting at 7:18 pm on Tuesday. This eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 48 mm and lasted approximately one hour and 55 minutes.

The volcano had also erupted on November 3, killing at least 10 residents living nearby.

Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki is located on Flores Island, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region known for its high seismic and volcanic activity due to the movement of tectonic plates.
