Footage shows engineers installing a bridge to assist residents affected by the DANA floods in Spain.

The 12th Pontoon Regiment and Engineers of Zaragoza completed building the provisional Mabey-type military bridge over the Turia River at Riba-roja, Valencia, on Saturday, November 30.

This new infrastructure will help reconnect around 3,500 locals in the northern urban areas with the city centre and provide the surrounding population access to the CV-336 highway.

A military spokesman said: 'This effort underscores the dedication of our armed forces to ensure no community is left isolated.'

Torrential rains battered Valencia, Spain, in late October. The ensuing floods resulted in more than 200 deaths, with several still missing, after the intense downpours overwhelmed riverbanks, damaged infrastructure, and forced thousands to evacuate.

The freak weather was said to be caused by a phenomenon locally referred to as 'Depresion Aislada en Niveles Altos' or DANA - an air mass that is colder than its surroundings at higher levels. The temperature difference creates an unstable atmosphere that triggers heavy rainfall in a very short period.
