Man dragged along platform by train after getting fingers trapped in door
On December 21, a dangerous incident occurred at Guangzhou South Railway Station. A passenger on train G1175, attempting to block a closing train door, got her fingers caught and was dragged along as the train prepared to depart.
According to an official report from Guangzhou South Station, the passenger held a ticket for car 10 on the train traveling from Guangzhou South to Shanwei. Just before the train was set to leave, the passenger exited from car 8, ran to car 9 of a different trainset, and attempted to stop the closing door, resulting in her fingers being caught. Station staff immediately noticed the situation and alerted the train driver to stop the train.
The driver quickly stopped the train, and staff moved the injured passenger to a safe area on the platform, notifying emergency medical services. After an initial assessment, the passenger was found to have injured her fingers and was sent to the hospital for further treatment.
It was clarified that train G1175 consists of two coupled high-speed trainsets, with car 8 and car 9 belonging to separate trainsets that are not interconnected. Passengers needing to move from car 8 to car 10 must disembark and walk along the platform to reboard at car 9 or 10. The injured passenger's lack of familiarity with the train's configuration likely led to her misjudgment and hazardous behavior.
