Wild monkeys caused chaos when they tried to climb on the back of a truck to steal bananas in Thailand.

The primates lurking on the roadside saw the passing pickup vehicle with youngsters sat on the cargo bed in Chonburi, Thailand, on October 12.

Frantic footage shows a macaque clinging onto the rear of the car causing one of the lads to back away.

The monkey hopped away when the lad's friend threw a fruit onto the pavement.

However, the others from its troop tried to clamber into the moving vehicle, causing panic among the youngsters.

One of the passengers said: 'The monkeys leave when we give them food. We were only trying to have a fun road trip.'

Monkeys in Thailand have become accustomed to tourists feeding them and they will often become aggressive. They have also been known to steal food and belongings from tourists.
