This is the amusing moment monkeys stole plastic bags from the back of a pickup truck that was stuck in a traffic jam.

Footage shows three primates ransacking the back of a vehicle in Lopburi province, central Thailand on May 13.

The first two monkeys left the truck with a bag while a third one lingered on until it found a loot for himself.

While being searched by the animals, the driver apparently tried shaking them away but without success.

Driver Rungrat Udomlap who was behind the truck when it happened said: ‘These creatures are so desperate for food that they no longer fear humans anymore.'

Lopburi, around 90 miles north of the capital Bangkok, has become known for its population of notiously aggressive wild monkeys.

They gather around an ancient Buddhist temple in the centre of the city, which has also become an attraction for tourists who feed the creatures and let them climb on their heads.

Some residents believe the monkeys bring good luck to the area while others are tired of their rowdy, messy behaviour.
