At around 5:30 pm on 12th March in Shangqiu, Henan, a black saloon car accidentally plunged into the North Lake of the ancient city. As the vehicle began sinking, the driver remained trapped inside, facing a life-threatening situation.

Mr Li Nanjing, who happened to be passing by, reacted swiftly. He quickly grabbed a crowbar from nearby, removed his clothes, and leapt into the icy water. Clenching the crowbar in his mouth, he swam towards the sinking vehicle with all his strength.

Upon reaching the car, Li used the crowbar to smash the window, successfully breaking it open. He then pulled the trapped driver out and swam back to shore, ensuring the driver's safety.

Thanks to the timely rescue, the driver escaped unharmed and was taken to hospital for further medical checks.

During the rescue, Li sustained minor cuts on his arms and legs from the broken glass but was otherwise uninjured. Speaking to the media, he stated that he had not hesitated—he simply acted on instinct upon seeing someone in danger. He hopes his actions can inspire others and spread positive energy.
