Baby elephant blows out her first birthday candle
A baby elephant excitedly blew out a large candle on top of her first-ever birthday cake.
The juvenile jumbo named Phauek Sichai Phum was celebrating her fourth birthday and was gifted by caretakers sliced fruit in the shape of a cake in Chaiyaphum, Thailand.
Footage shows Phauek Sichai Phum being guided by a mahout to back away and blow air out of her trunk.
She made a trumpeting sound, but the winds coming out were enough to put out the flames from the yellow candle in the middle of the fruit spread.
Her cake was made out of banana, corn, and watermelon, which she enjoyed herself.
Animal camp staff member Haruthai Phanwiset said: 'She knew how to blow out the candle flames. She was so adorable.'
Elephants are Thailand's national animal and an important part of Its culture and history. In the past, they were used for farming, logging, and even fighting wars.
Some elephants still live in the wild, but many are in captivity, working in tourism or living in sanctuaries. Because logging was banned and tourism has changed, many elephants are now kept in sanctuaries where they are protected and cared for.
