A driver swerved onto a grass verge when a lorry pulled out in front of him.

Montraporn Tangwipatkul was travelling home when a 12-wheeler with a trailer attached suddenly switched lanes to his front in Nakhon Pathom province, Thailand, on October 24.

Dashcam footage shows the car straying off the road to the traffic island as he tried to avoid a collision. Montraporn was left on the edge of the road while the lorry sped away, leaving both of their vehicles unscathed.

Montraporn said: 'The truck squeezed my car and ran away. Drivers should be more responsible on the road.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
