Los Angeles, United States - April 23, 2025 04/23/2025 12:00 am (GMT-0700) SOUTH PARK, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – A Los Angeles Police Department K-9 unit was responding to a perimeter in the Newton Division Wednesday morning when the officer was involved in a crash. A silver Nissan sedan struck the K-9 pickup head-on. Initial information from the scene indicated that the man driving the Nissan was acting erratically and intentionally collided with the K-9 unit. The LAPD took the man into custody at the scene, where he could be seen on the ground shouting "help me" in Spanish. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics transported the man to an area hospital. The officer involved in the crash was not injured, and the dog is believed to be unharmed. The investigation has been assigned to the LAPD Central Traffic Division.
