Female elk jumps into home's glass window in Russia
This is the dramatic moment a female elk collided with a glass window while attempting to escape a busy street in Russia.
Footage shows the young cow sprinting along a roadway before abruptly turning and attempting to leap through the front window of a house in Barnaul, Altai Krai.
The animal struck the glass with force, appeared momentarily dazed, and then galloped off toward a small cluster of trees.
Reports indicated that the animal had wandered into the urban area in search of a mate and, startled by its surroundings, charged the window in a possible attempt to flee the unfamiliar environment.
The creature later continued into a nearby forested area on May 7.
Spring marks the beginning of elk mating season in the region, a period when animals frequently leave their natural habitats in search of a mate.
Encounters with humans typically rise during this time, as disoriented or hormonally driven elk are more likely to venture into towns and cities.
