CLARK, N.J. — Three Clark police officers are being hailed as heroes after pulling a man from a burning car following a fiery crash on Monday night.

At approximately 9:10 p.m. on May 12, Sgt. Pedro Oliveira, Officer Teriq Ricks, and Officer Giovannina Prisco responded to a single-vehicle crash and found the driver trapped inside a vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

Despite intense heat and heavy smoke, the officers broke a window and rescued the 46-year-old man moments before the car was completely consumed by fire. All three officers sustained injuries and smoke inhalation but remained focused on saving the man's life.

“These officers demonstrated extraordinary bravery under life-threatening conditions,” said Capt. Miguel Acabou, officer-in-charge of the Clark Police Department. “Their decisive actions exemplify the very best of our profession.”

The victim was treated on scene and transported to a local hospital. The department commended all personnel involved for their dedication and swift response.
