MOORPARK, Calif. — Two baby raccoons are safe after being rescued from a boat compartment by Ventura County Animal Services, the department shared in a Facebook post.

The boat, previously stored in a Moorpark facility, was in transit when the owner heard crying sounds. Animal Control Officer Horn responded and located the animals inside a compartment.

The young raccoons were safely removed and later transferred to Wildlife Care of Southern California for rehabilitation.

“Thank you to all involved for a successful rescue,” the department wrote.
