Two builders were killed while two others were injured when scaffolding collapsed at a construction site in Taiwan.

Footage shows the unfinished building as emergency responders rushed to the scene in Taichung on May 23.

The structure was previously asked to be dismantled by the local government as it reportedly failed to comply with regulations.

However, parts of it toppled down while the workers were trying to remove it from the structure's facade.

The two who died fell from the top during the procedure, while their colleagues were injured when debris struck them below.

Crews from the Taichung City Fire Department rushed to the scene and took all four workers to the hospital.

However, two of them were confirmed dead before they even reached the medics.

The Taiwanese Urban Development Bureau said the construction was ordered to stop immediately, while the contractors were fined 90,000 NTD (2,223 GBP) each.

Investigations are ongoing.
