The magical cat fell from the 16th floor and was completely unharmed.
On June 14th in Heihe, Heilongjiang, a one-and-a-half-year-old kitten accidentally fell from the 16th-floor windowsill while playing, after its owner forgot to close the window. Fortunately, the kitten landed safely and was completely unharmed.
The owner, Mr. Zhao, discovered the cat was missing and confirmed the astonishing incident by checking the building’s surveillance footage. He then took the kitten to the hospital for a check-up, where it was confirmed that the cat had no injuries to its limbs or body.
The doctor explained that cats have a unique skeletal structure and flexible joints, allowing them to quickly adjust their posture during a fall. By extending their limbs, they can increase air resistance and slow their descent—this instinctive reaction helps cushion the impact. When falling from above the 10th floor, cats have enough time to adjust into an optimal landing position. In contrast, falls from lower heights like the 4th or 5th floor are more likely to cause injuries because there’s not enough time to react. Additionally, the kitten happened to land in a patch of grass and bushes, which helped absorb the impact and reduce the force of the fall.
