ROADS END POINT, Ore. — A U.S. Coast Guard helicopter crew from Astoria rescued two 14-year-old boys stranded on a cliff at Roads End Point on July 5, 2025, after local fire departments were unable to reach them safely.

The teens had become trapped on the rocky cliffside and called for help. Due to the steep and hazardous terrain, ground crews determined that a helicopter hoist was the only viable option.

Responding swiftly, the Coast Guard launched an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Astoria. In a precision hoist operation, both boys were lifted from the cliff and transported to safety. No injuries were reported.

The Coast Guard commended the boys for calling for help and staying put while rescuers arrived.
