Los Angeles, United States - July 10, 2025 07/10/2025 03:00 am GMT-0700 NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – A multi-jurisdictional pursuit began overnight after a Chevy Silverado, reportedly stolen from a residence at 1100 Cambridge Lane in Newport Beach by the registered owner’s brother, was spotted in the West Valley area by LAPD officers. Authorities say the suspect, believed to be armed with an AR‑15-style rifle, led officers on a high-speed chase southbound along US-101 through Hollywood and into downtown Los Angeles before continuing southeast toward Orange County. The chase continued into the Costa Mesa–Newport Beach area, with police from multiple agencies, including LAPD, CHP, and local Orange County departments, joining the pursuit. Throughout the chase, the suspect drove erratically — at times swerving across lanes, speeding through intersections, and even driving on the wrong side of the road. Just after 2:30 a.m., the suspect veered off the road and was seen driving on the beach near 32nd Street in Newport Beach. The pursuit finally came to an end in the area of Kings Place and Cliff Drive, where the suspect crashed into the front yard of a residence. The Newport Beach PD utilized a spike strip, which took out the rear driver-side tire of the vehicle. The suspect was taken into custody and was transported to a hospital by Newport Beach FD for unknown injuries.
