SAN DIEGO — The Independence-variant littoral combat ship USS Omaha (LCS 12) returned to its homeport at Naval Base San Diego on July 11 following a 10-month deployment.

The Omaha operated in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operations, supporting a free and open Indo-Pacific region. The deployment focused on countering 21st-century coastal threats and maintaining maritime security.

Littoral combat ships like the Omaha are designed for speed, agility and versatility in both near-shore and open-ocean environments.
