Rowing boat battles through huge swells off the coast of island
A small rowing boat battled massive swells as fishermen sailed home off the coast of an Indonesian island.
Footage shows fishermen aboard the wooden vessel swaying violently while navigating heavy waves near Java Island in Yogyakarta on July 28.
Their fresh catch lay scattered on the floor as the locals, clad in vests, clung tightly to their seats.
Fisherman Iman Fendhi Nurcahyo said: ‘There was a storm, so we decided to cut our fishing short.'
He added that waves reached more than 20ft high, which could have easily capsized them.
He said: ‘We saw waves towering over us up to 26ft (8m). It was terrifying.'
The group made it back to shore safely.
