A pet owner performed CPR to save his cat that was electrocuted while trying to cross phone lines.

Prasit Makabodin rushed to the scene when the orange feline named Thongkham fell from the wires onto the street in Bangkok, Thailand.

Footage shows Prasit giving Thongkham quick chest compressions to revive her until she showed signs of life.

Prasit was assisted by his daughter Bing, who massaged the ginger's fur during the DIY rescue.

The pet lover said: 'Our family adopted Thongkham after her mother appeared at the canal beside our house.

'Since I work as a veterinary assistant at an animal hospital, I knew how to provide proper help.'

The vet clinic staff member added his neighbours were kind enough to try CPR on Thongkham before he arrived, but he had to step in because it was done incorrectly.

He said: 'Before I arrived, someone was already performing CPR on our cat, but they were doing it incorrectly, as if on a human, laying the cat on its back.

'I stepped in, placed the cat on her side, and began chest compressions. I kept going until she regained consciousness.'

Thongkham let out a soft meow moments later and residents can be heard sighing in relief.

The cat was taken to the vet for further treatment and was cleared by medics to recover at home.

Now the feline can be seen roaming around the house wearing an Elizabethan collar and a diaper.

Footage shows Thongkham at the hospital being fed tuna from a bowl while Prasit sang a song to her.

Prasit added: We then took her to the hospital for further treatment, and she made a full recovery.'

Thais are known for their affection toward cats, and this is not the first time a moggy has been saved with CPR. Just last month, a food delivery rider in Bangkok resuscitated a grey feline rescued from a burning house before it was taken to a vet and made a full recovery.
