This is the shocking moment a coconut fell on a resident's head as a family collected fruit from a tree.

Ernesto Basinga and his brother-in-law, Richard Domingo, were harvesting young coconuts in their backyard when the hard-shelled fruit struck Richard in South Cotabato, the Philippines.

Footage shows Ernesto, wearing an orange polo shirt, pulling the drupe when it fell onto Richard on the morning of July 23.

Richard's wife Gracia Domingo can be heard screaming in shock as her husband instinctively ducks, grimacing in pain.

He rubbed his head and let out a groan while his concerned partner rushed over to check if he was okay.

Ernesto said: 'We didn't want to take any risks, so we immediately brought Richard to the hospital for medical attention. The doctors conducted an X-ray and a CT scan to rule out any serious injuries. Thankfully, the results came back normal—no fractures or internal damage were found.

'It was a frightening experience, and we were truly grateful to God that everything turned out fine. It was a reminder for all of us to be extra careful, even with something that seems simple like collecting coconuts.'
