A large fire broke out at a vehicle repair shop in Malaysia on Sunday evening, destroying dozens of vehicles and causing significant damage.

The blaze erupted around 11:30 pm on August 24 in Section 2, Shah Alam, Selangor.

Footage from the scene shows flames engulfing the workshop as thick smoke billows into the night sky.

Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, Assistant Director of Operations and Firefighting at the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, confirmed crews arrived within five minutes of the alert.

He added: 'We found the fire involved a vehicle workshop. It is estimated that 90 per cent of the premises were burned, including the building structure, 37 cars of various types, and seven motorcycles.'

One workshop employee suffered minor burns to his hands while attempting to move a vehicle to safety. He received treatment from emergency medical personnel on site before being taken to the hospital by his family.

Authorities later confirmed his condition is stable.

Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control by 12:26 am and fully extinguished it by 2:31 am on Monday. No other casualties were reported.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. However, officials have urged local business owners to comply with fire safety regulations to prevent similar incidents.
