Los Angeles, United States - September 23, 2025 09/22/2025 11:40 pm GMT-0700 UPLAND, Calif. – California Highway Patrol officers from the Baldwin Park Area office pursued a blue Ford vehicle traveling eastbound on the 10 Freeway at Azusa Avenue in West Covina. Upon running the vehicle's license plate, they discovered it was wanted for armed carjacking and multiple burglaries. The officers decided to wait for additional units and an air support helicopter to arrive before attempting to pull the vehicle over. As units caught up to the primary unit near the 57 Freeway interchange in Pomona, the suspects inside the vehicle fled, leading officers on a chase at speeds reaching 100 mph eastbound on the 10 Freeway. The suspects exited at White Avenue in Pomona, driving the wrong way on surface streets and continuing westbound in eastbound lanes of the 10 Freeway. Due to the dangerous driving, officers canceled the pursuit. Shortly after, CHP officers from the Rancho Cucamonga Area office, along with an Ontario Police Department airship, located the vehicle traveling at high speeds eastbound on the 10 Freeway at Monte Vista Avenue in Montclair. The suspects initiated a second pursuit as they continued eastbound from Central Avenue in Montclair. The suspects exited the freeway at Euclid Avenue in Ontario, navigating southbound in the northbound lanes on Euclid, once again traveling the wrong way on surface streets. After briefly turning around, the suspects crashed on Euclid Avenue just north of the 10 Freeway. They fled on foot, armed with handguns. During a foot pursuit by CHP officers, shots were fired, but it remains unclear if the suspect returned fire. Officers managed to apprehend one suspect, while a second fled further north on Euclid Avenue and into the backyard of a residence on the 300 block of South Euclid Avenue in Upland. Reports of shots fired continued, with uncertainty regarding the source of the gunfire. Upland and Ontario police received 911 calls from a homeowner reporting an intruder in their house in the 300 block of South Laurel Avenue in Upland. An officer-involved shooting occurred at this address, where the suspect was shot twice. The suspect discarded their weapon and crawled out to the front yard, where officers took them into custody. The suspect was then transported to a local hospital. At this time, no officers were reported injured from the gunfire, and it is unknown if anyone inside the residence was harmed during the burglary. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Upland PD and Ontario PD, are assisting the CHP in the investigation, with several streets, including both north and southbound Euclid Avenue, closed off.
