This is the heart-stopping moment a drone helped rescue a stranded local from a capsized boat during severe flooding in Vietnam.

Pham Van Truong, 44, and Ha Van Anh, 45, were fishing on the Krong Pak River when their dinghy overturned in turbulent waters in Dak Lak Province.

Worried relatives who could not reach the pair alerted the police and a night-long search began on November 21.

Truong was found the next morning near the C7 Bridge area in Ea O Commune. Drone operator Hoang Van Thien immediately deployed an aerial vehicle to assist in the rescue.

Footage shows the unmanned aircraft carrying Truong, who was wearing a life vest, to safety.

Local media reported that he was safely brought ashore and taken to a medical centre for assessment.

Anh remains missing, and the search-and-rescue operation is ongoing.

Authorities have urged residents in affected areas to evacuate immediately and to avoid all riverbanks and flood-prone waterways.

The country has been experiencing severe flash floods due to severe and prolonged rainfall across the Central Region and Central Highlands.

The disaster has tragically claimed at least 102 lives, with more people missing across affected provinces. Over 200,000 homes have been flooded, and more than 119,000 residents have been evacuated to safety.

In a similar incident in July, a drone rescued a group of children trapped by rising floodwaters. Three youngsters became stranded after herding cows and attempting to cross the Ba River in Ia Tul commune, Gia Lai.

Tran Van Nghia, a farmer renting nearby land, responded using his remote-controlled agricultural drone. He said the children were around 50 metres from the riverbank, with currents too strong for anyone to swim across.

The drone, which had a permitted load of 50kg, was used to lift the children safely to shore.
