A birthday celebration turned violent at a Bearwood pub, leaving a man in his 20s hospitalised with a stab wound.

Three men have been arrested by West Midlands Police after a man in his 20's was stabbed at a Birthday Party at a Bearwood Pub on Saturday evening.

A sea of blue lights were filmed by a resident on the road as police and paramedics swarmed the area of Smethwick in the county of Sandwell.

Several people who were present in the pub at the time, but were not part of the incident said on social media that a private function room had been booked out for a birthday party and this was where the attack took place.

Three men aged 30, 24, and 19, are in custody today and will be questioned in suspicion of wounding.

The injured man was stabbed in the leg and remains in hosapital in a stable condition.

Officers taped off The Abbey Pub in Smethwick last night as blood trails, bloodied clothes, unfinished food and first aid could be seen through a window.

West Midlands Police said in a statement on Sunday: 'We’ve arrested three people after a man was stabbed at a pub in Bearwood.

'We were called to disorder at The Abbey on Abbey Road at around 8.40pm yesterday.

'The victim, believed to be in his 20s, was stabbed in the leg and remains in a stable condition in hospital.

'Three men aged 30, 24, and 19, are in custody today and will be questioned in suspicion of wounding.

'Enquiries continue and anyone with information has been asked to get in touch, quoting log 4189 of 29 November. '
