This is the moment tourists were stopped by police for allegedly violating traffic rules in Thailand.

The motorists were at a red light when they were flagged by officers for waiting on a zebra crossing on holiday island Phuket, on December 21.

Footage shows police blowing their whistle in warning before calling over the group of around four male drivers to the roadside to be fined.

Onlookers said the bikers were also revving their engines loudly while waiting at the traffic light.

A Wichit Police Station spokesman said: 'The Wichit Police Station will not ignore such offenses in order to deter foreign tourists from breaking the rules and ensure they comply with Thai law.'

Phuket is a famous beach destination for tourists, many of whom rent scooters and motorbikes to explore the island. But winding roads, inexperienced riders, and disregard for local traffic rules can cause serious collisions and disputes involving the visitors.
