US, Phoenix: Phoenix Police Track Fleeing Suspect Into City Of Mesa

Phoenix, United States - December 23, 2025 12/23/2025 01:00 am GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – Phoenix police officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a speeding sedan in the Maryvale area near 67th Avenue and Indian School Road around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday. The suspect refused to yield, and felony flight was established. Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau officer and the Phoenix police helicopter responded to assist. The Phoenix police helicopter quickly located the suspect's vehicle. A tactical surveillance operation was initiated, allowing Tactical Support Bureau units to follow the suspect at a distance while the Phoenix police helicopter tracked the sedan from above. The suspect led officers east through the city of Phoenix, eventually entering the SR-51. The suspect then fled south on the SR-51, transitioned onto the I-10, and then entered the eastbound US-60. The suspect led officers east on the 60 through multiple cities before exiting the highway in the city of Apache Junction. The suspect then fled back westbound on the Historic US-80 / Apache Trail before entering the Loop 202 traveling westbound. A short while later, the suspect's vehicle came to a stop on the Loop 202, west of Gilbert Road in the city of Mesa. The suspect fled northbound on foot, entering the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community reservation. The suspect then entered a desert area near McDowell Road and Mesa Drive. The suspect attempted to hide from officers in dense vegetation near the Salt River shore. Phoenix and Salt River police officers established a large perimeter in the area. Phoenix Police Tactical Support Bureau officers conducted a K-9 search with assistance from the Phoenix police helicopter. Officers located and arrested the suspect shortly thereafter.
