This video shows one of the top battles between predator and prey in the African wild. This whole ordeal started with a lone buffalo bull grazing along a dry riverbed. Two hundred meters down the riverbed were a pride of eight lions at rest. A strong wind was blowing. The noise made it difficult for the buffalo to hear anything and in the swirling wind he could not pick up their scent either. One lioness spotted this lone buffalo. She manages to sneak up on it and get within meters. Then the buffalo realizes things are not well, turns around and spots the lioness. He instinctively charges. In the meantime the rest of the pride strategically moved around to try and circle around the buffalo. This buffalo was not going down without a fight. He charges them one by one. Eventually the number of lions got the better of him. They manage to slow him down through biting his hind legs and jumping on his back, biting into the spine. Eventually the buffalo ran low in energy and adrenalin. At this stage he finds himself on the ground with the big cats trying everything in their power to kill him. In the end the lions just literally started eating the buffalo from behind while still alive. This whole ordeal lasted just over an hour. By the time the camera battery ran out, these lions were still busy eating him alive from behind. He soon died after this. This buffalo showed real bravery by not going down without a fight. This is something that happens in the wild often but rarely seen by humans. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience.
