This video shows the events taking place at night around a buffalo carcass over a two hour period. This buffalo was hunted and killed by two big male lions. The lions left the carcass unattended to go and drink water. Not too far away is a black - backed jackal sniffing around following the scent of fresh meat. They are exceptionally resourceful animals and are renowned for their ability to acquire and share knowledge of how to avoid danger and still thrive as a population. The Jackal approaches the buffalo carcass very carefully. The bone chilling and eerie calls of hyenas are echoing through the bush. This Jackal nervously makes sure that there are not any of the big predators close by.
The sneaky jackal finally gets on the carcass and is soon joined by another jackal. Their feast comes to an abrupt hold when suddenly one big male lion releases his powerful roar into the African night. The jackals quickly disappear into the darkness. One big male lion appears back at the carcass. He feeds on his fresh buffalo meat for a short while. The male lion then turns around and starts roaring. He is letting his brother know where he is. The sound of this big male roaring is just astonishing and powerfully overwhelming. The deep base of the roar could be felt through the vehicle into our stomachs. The lion then goes and lie down to rest for a short while. Eventually the male lions gets up and starts moving in the direction from where he heard his brother answering his call. Not long after the jackal returned. He realizes there is another opportunity to steal from the King of beasts
