Villagers carry pregnant women for eight hours covering 18 Kilometers to reach a nearby hospital in northern India

Villagers make sedan chair to help pregnant women reach a nearby hospital located 18 kilometres from the village in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh due to poor road connectivity.

The incident took place on February 16, in Kullu District.

The video shows, people taking turns to carry a pregnant woman sitting on a sedan chair, which they are seen carrying on their shoulders and hiking the dangerous mountain pathway.

According to the reports, the villagers took eight hours to travel 18 km carrying pregnant Sunita from Shakti village in Sainji valley to Niharani village main road to reach the nearby hospital.

The villagers made sedan and carried the woman for immediate medical attention.

Gadarpali Panchayat Pradhan, Bhag Chand stated, that the village still lacks basic facilities and infrastructure, since Independence and no proper commutable roads.
