A security camera in Indonesia has captured the moment an alleged opportunistic thief stole two mobile phones from a man while he slept.

Footage captured at a digital printing office in Padang City in West Sumatra on May 5th shows two young men enter the shop.

A man in a blue football shirt spies a staff member slumped at a desk and approaches him looking for anything of value.

He sees the phones on the desk in front of the dozing worker, scoops them up, puts them in his pockets and walks out of the shop.

According to the owner of the business, the alleged thief took advantage of the fact that the worker was tired from Ramadan fasting.

The worker woke up to find the phones gone and then discovered the theft when he checked the CCTV cameras.

The incident has been reported to the police.

They saw this man sleeping soundly on the table, there was a phone near his head.

The perpetrator cautiously slipped behind the man to take 2 phones.

Nasrul, NJ Advertising owner, said the thief had taken Xiaomi and Samsung phones. Thieves allegedly exploited the lonely condition of impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"That is the office and employee's cellphone. Maybe he was tired of fighting Ramadan fasting, as it was late afternoon before breaking the fast," Nasrul said.

Theft was discovered after the victim woke up and realized her cellphone lost. And revealed from CCTV footage.

Theft victim reported this incident to police with a loss of 5 million rupiah, or 280 poundsterling.

Victims of theft spread videos and photos of thieves on social media. Some Instagram and Facebook users say they know the face of a thief.
