An Asian golden cat was rescued from a wild boar trap in a forest in Kemang area.

The footage shows conservation officers in West Sumatra walking into the forest to rescue the cat after it was entangled in a trap this afternoon (June 16).

"The rare golden cat was entangled at about noon and found by the residents who set up the trap. The officers anaesthetized the animal so it could be evacuated as its front left leg was wrapped around a rope," the filmer told Newsflare.

The big cat was taken to the local zoo for immediate care and further observation.

The footage filmed on this afternoon (June 16) in Agam regency, West Sumatra shows conservation officers from BKSDA Bukittinggi-Agam rescue the cat after it was entangled in a trap.

His feet hung entangled in traps with wounds swarming with flies.

Local residents who set up the trap say they found this cat in the morning and reported it to officers.

The officers anesthetized the animal so it can release the loop of rope that enters its left leg and evacuate it.

Bukittinggi zoo veterinarian, Drh. Syefrizal said, the golden cat's foot had swollen. After being sedated, they were evacuated to the Bukittinggi zoo.

"We will observe for a week until his condition is recovered. Whether it will be amputated or not, but hopefully it will not be amputated," Syefrizal added.
