This is the heart-stopping moment a toddler was almost knocked over when she wandered into the road.

The infant had escaped while her grandmother who was babysitting her was distracted at the family home in Surat Thani, southern Thailand, on October 2.

Dashcam footage shows a car coming round the bend before slamming on the brakes - coming within a few yards of hitting the child.

The driver, Wuttichai, parked his vehicle and quickly rushed out to carry the child to the safety on the side of the street.

He said that the child's grandmother emerged from the home shortly after looking for the infant.

Wuttichai said: "I want everybody to take this as a great lesson to watch over your child closely. We can't turn back time and fix bad things that have happened."
