This is the heartwarming moment a dog was saved after falling into a manhole in Thailand.

Viboon Pechthanapong went outside the house after hearing his dogs barking in Pathum Thani province during the early morning on November 16.

At first, he thought that there was an intruder in his home but after checking outside the house, he found a stray pooch trapped at the bottom of an uncovered drain.

Viboon saw the helpless Golden Retriever standing in filth. It then whined even louder after seeing them.

The house owner asked his girlfriend to take a rope and a stick from the kitchen and dropped it into the pit to rescue the dog using it.

They dropped it down the sewers and targeted the dog's body so they can pull it out using the contraption.

The couple were having a hard time capturing the dog using their DIY rescue tool, until the smart dog bit the end of the rope and started climbing through the wall.

However, its weight was too heavy to be able to climb all the way up as it was already shaking from the cold water.

Viboon did not give up so he moved the rope into a different direction and tried to calm the dog throughout the process.

With his efforts, Viboon managed to get hold of the dog's body and brought it up to the ground.

He said: "It wasn't because of me that the dog survived, this little one is a fighter. He stayed strong for hours in the wet and dirty drain and was even smart enough to stay still when I threw the rope down."

The dog was given clean water and some food before the couple let it out on the streets again to go home.
