Two wildlife traffickers have been apprehended for smuggling turtles in eastern India's Bihar on Monday (January 11).

The incident took place in the Gopalganj district.

Footage of the incident shows a truck on the side of a street after being seized. Several containers of turtles are unloaded from the truck, while authorities watch on.

Kuchaikote Police confiscated the reptiles at the scene and arrested two smugglers from West Parganas, eastern India.

The estimated value of the seized turtles is estimated to be in millions. They were being transported from Lucknow, a large city in northern India, to Kolkata, the capital of India's West Bengal state, via Bhutan.

The accused are in police custody, and an investigation is underway.

All the sacks crammed with turtles are found hidden inside the lorry. Police officials confiscate all the consignments of the reptiles on the spot.

Kuchaikote police arrested two smugglers from West Parganas in the case. The estimated value of the seized turtles was estimated to be in millions. These reptiles were being transported from Lucknow to Kolkata via Bhutan.

Around 1946 of these creatures were hidden in several cartons, and 231 of them were found dead. The dead ones were buried and cremated, while the alive ones were released into the Gandak river.

These turtles were to be used in sex-enhancing medicines. The accused are being interrogated by the police, and an investigation is underway.
