A bird-fight contest was held during the festival of Makar Sankranti in eastern India's West Bengal on January 14. The match took place in Gopiballavpur of Jhargram district.

Visuals witnessing the occurrence features an enormous crowd clustered in a region to behold a unique bird-fight during the daytime. The participants bring in their avians and initiate the event.

The bird's eagerness to feast on food items provokes them to battle another reptile present on the spot. Locals seem to enjoy it while experiencing this unusual contest.

These birds are recognized as Bulbul and around 250-300 of these had participated in the competition. These avians were not fed an entire day before the contest, which made them aggravated and fight each other. None of the reptiles were harmed during this event and were later released into the environment.
